Weekend or Mid-weel Getaway - 3 Days

Lummi Island is a small island just off the shore of Whatcom County in Washington State. A 22-car ferry takes visitors in 6 minutes from the mainland to the island. A popular destination is The Willows Inn, a small charming Inn with a  world-renowned kitchen. The head chef Blaine Wetzel has trained in the kitchen of Noma in Copenhagen, Denmark which was repeatedly ranked as the best restaurant in the world. The island also offers great opportunities for nature walks, hiking, kayaking, wildlife viewing and quiet contemplation. This is a quick local getaway for Foodies willing to spend some money on the experience.


Dinner is a pre-set tasting menu served nightly at 6:30pm. The current price is $195 USD (wine pairing + $90 USD). Breakfast has a fixed-price of $25 USD.

The beautifully appointed rooms at the Inn start at around $230 CAD per night (double-occupancy) for mid-week rates. Booking well in advance is required as both the Inn and restaurant are usually sold out.


Other options for meals are the Beach Store Cafe or self-made with supplies from the local Islander Store.



Leave Vancouver in the morning of Day 1. Driving time approx. 90 minutes to ferry terminal in Bellingham, WA (not including border crossing time). The ferry leaves every 20 minutes during daytime on weekdays and on the hour on weekends.

Stay 2 nights at Willows Inn with one dinner and one breakfast at the Inn. Return to Vancouver on afternoon of Day 3.
